1) Magnetic Detection: Simply press and hold the MG button on the side (with your thumb or forefinger) and rub the MG end of the Money Stick in a pen-like rubbing motion, over the silver thread (found on English Pounds or Euros) or magnetic area of the note (e.g. serial numbers on Scots notes and black areas on US Dollars). An audible beep indicates genuine, and no beep indicates fake - easy!

2) UV Detection: (3-point check) Point the UV 'laser' end of the Money Stick on the banknote to see if the paper is bright or dull (bright indicates forgery / dull indicates genuine), then you can highlight any invisible UV ink markings (i.e. "20" written on English Pounds) and you can look for the presence of UV flecks on Euros and new-issue ?20 notes.
