Hello all you restless musicians!
I’m a clarinettist who would like to form a wind quintet or even a concert band. It would be non-auditioning but of a reasonable standard (I’m grade 8 but a bit out of practice!). Probably looking at grade 5 and above, or equivalent. I’ve been out of concert bands for the last year since I left university and really want to get back into music of some sort.
It would be lovely to arrange a few concerts/gigs/busking etc once the group is a bit more established but it really doesn’t have to be too heavy – this is just for fun and I’d like it to be a committed but most importantly a relaxed, sociable group.
Please please get in touch if you’ve been trying to get into music in Leeds but like me have found that lots of groups are already full or weren’t what you were looking for, or if you haven’t played in a while and want to get back into it.
This applies to brass players, wind players, percussionists, pianists… and conductors
I have helped set up a couple of choirs in the past, was in a wind quintet and helped run a concert band so I know what needs to be done and also know that it will take a bit of work if we go for full-on concert band (as opposed to a wind quintet). But I’m ready for the challenge if you are!
My email address is laura_harpin@hotmail.com – please get in touch NOW if you’re even vaguely interested! If you could indicate whether you’re interested in helping the group get off the ground (at whatever level) or just want to be an ‘ordinary’ member, that would be great.
