Software engineer / technical lead

Tracsis PLC is a fast growth software company servicing global transportation industries. The company has developed state-of-the-art intelligent scheduling software which has widespread application within crew planning and service delivery activities. Over the past 4 years Tracsis has experienced considerable success - especially within the UK rail market - and developed a client list of major blue chip transport operators. The business is now seeking to consolidate its position as market leader in its field and as such has a requirement for a technical lead to manage all aspects of software development and roll out.

The Role:

Work closely with company management and our customer base in defining future product / technical strategy
Work within a small team of software development staff in delivering this strategy on time and to budget
Provide hands-on advice and expertise to our client base and take a lead role in the configuration, implementation and uptake of our software throughout the UK
A indicative breakdown of the role will be: 30% strategy/management, 30% coding, 40% client facing delivery

Candidate Skills and Experience:

A degree background in computer science, physics, management science or operational research would be a distinct advantage (first class or high 2:1)
Strong programming/software development skills and experience of C, C++, C# is a core requirement
Experience of developing windows applications and creating/deploying windows installer applications (MSI). Web based deployment would be advantageous
Experience of working with XML and associated applications
Microsoft technical specialist certification would be a distinct advantage
Exemplary communication skills and the ability to convey and share ideas is essential
A ‘right first time’ attitude with a high level of attention to detail

You are likely to be a high calibre graduate with several years industry experience looking for a step up to a management position in software development and consultancy

This is an entrepreneurial role within a small, fast growth, technology start-up. The successful candidate must be a natural self-starter, have initiative and enthusiasm in abundance, and show a high degree of professionalism. They will be required to work outside their comfort zones in a flat management structure in order to succeed.
