Principal Hydrologist Hydraulic Modeller
The Company:
A Global, multidisciplinary consultancy with a leading team at the forefront of flood risk management. The company's work with CIRIA has made a key contribution to the government's Making Space for Water strategy. As one of the six NECCA² framework consultants and four NCCF² consultants for the Environment Agency, it is assisting with the appraisal and delivery of a major programme of schemes to reduce floor risk across England and Wales. The company advises it's extensive client-base on flood risk management issues globally. The company is looking for intelligent, flexible people with good interpersonal, communication and technical skills.
The Role:
An experienced hydrologist/river modeller is required to play a leading role within the expanding rivers and coastal team.
Your main duties will include:
·Hydraulic Modelling
·Water quality investigations.
·GIS Analysis.
·Delivering and reviewing technical reports to a high standard.
·Day-to-day management of existing projects, client liaison and the development of new business.
·Candidate should have a firm appreciation of river mechanics and hydraulic modelling.
·Social impact assessments, tailings dam breach; water balance work, manufacturing EIAs, surface water management plans.
You will be required to deliver sizeable hydrological, water resource and/or flood management projects in a commercial environment. You will be involved in the tendering process, winning projects and developing business within the established market, and identifying new markets. Staff management will also play a key part of this role.
The Person:
Experience of reservoir flood studies would be highly beneficial. The ideal candidate for this role will need to be able to demonstrate the following level of skills and experience:
·Experience in the practical application of flood-based hydraulic models (preferably MIKE11) and the Flood Estimation Handbook techniques is required
·Practical experience of Hydrological Modelling , Dam Break Modelling and SuDs would be advantageous
·Experience in the use of at least two or more of the following software packages is essential – FEH, TuFlow, ISIS, MIKE 11, MIKE 21 and HEC RAS, ArcGIS or MapInfo.
·Degree in Civil Engineering or other appropriate qualification.
·Recently chartered or approaching chartership.
·Able to produce technical reports in a clear and concise form. Able to communicate effectively with both colleagues and clients
·Competent in using IT including Word, Excel, Power-point, email and the Internet
·Able to work with and manage junior engineers and technicians
·Good presentational skills
