The Company
Working for this leading Construction and Facilities Management company operating in the public and private sectors in the UK and internationally. They offer advice, design, construction and facilities management services for society's infrastructure and provide a range of plant and equipment in specialist fields. This opportunity is to work on a major defence contract.
The Position
As the Contracts Engineer you will be responsible to the General Manager for the day-to-day service delivery for the contract at all sites and outstations. Line management of the Site Engineers.
Duties and responsibilities will include
* To liaise and report daily to the Contracts Manager and bring to his attention any issues that need to be reported or must be resolved with Site DE FM's or CSP.
* To ensure that the planned preventative maintenance (Schedule C) and the identified remedial works are completed as per contract requirements.
* To monitor the reactive maintenance operations across the work packages undertaken by the supply partner organisation (CSP).
* To carry out RIBA Stage Review of drawings and Specifications and ensure that these are forwarded to DEFM for approval/endorsement. The review of drawings to include checks to confirm adherence to the Works Briefs, compliance to regulations and MOD Standards and sustainability principles.
* To ensure that sufficient resources are available to complete works on time including labour, materials, plant and equipment.
* To ensure that all works carried out under the AFP, meet the agreed specification and drawings and are delivered within planned timescales and budgets. To ensure that the Building Control function is carried out for those works which fall under building control.
* To ensure all works and operations carried out are in accordance with contract Health and Safety Plans including strict adherence to the AE / AP site procedures.
* To ensure that site labour possesses the necessary skills and qualification to carry out the works safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
* To ensure that the approved processes are adhered to.
* To carry out audits of works/maintenance operations undertaken as directed by the SDM and report findings back to the SDM.
* To attend audits and facilitate as required
* To ensure completed works are accepted by the client and approved for payment without any undue delays
* To ensure that the Royal Engineers assigned tasks on a day to day basis in support of the delivery of all services
The Person
* The successful candidate should be qualified to HNC or equivalent in a building or engineering discipline.
* A thorough understanding of running multi-disciplinary maintenance contracts.
* Design of M&E or B&CE works
* Familiarity with standards associated with the design, construction and maintenance of buildings and services.
* Extensive experience working on MOD establishment sites, proficient in carrying out H&S audits and inspections, risk management.
* Ability to co-ordinate, manage and report on works.
* Effective communication of H&S matters, implementation of H&S initiatives, a flexible approach and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
