Overview
MadeByPi, based in Roundhay, Leeds, has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Web Developer to work on a number of projects on our impressive client list. Your main responsibilities would be creation of standards compliant HTML web pages based on designs created by our creative team. Within an informal, sociable, dynamic environment this is your opportunity to blossom and shine. We have a very diverse team with skills in all technical skills including PHP, .NET, Java, Actionscript etc which offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within the company.

We are looking for someone with a passion for the web, who is continually looking to update and improve their skills. We have an open attitude to technology and are constantly looking forward to incorporating new technologies into the work we produce for our clients.


Responsibilities

Some of the main duties for this role are:

• Build XHTML/CSS 2.0 web pages to precisely match design supplied by MadeByPi Creative team
• Ensure web sites use fully semantic mark up, are valid to W3C standards and meet W3C WAI and UK DDA legislation requirements
• Development of unobtrusive Javascript using standard javascript libraries and plugins (e.g. jquery, prototype etc) plus bespoke code where required.
• Building search engine friendly websites
• Ensuring source code is committed and maintained in our central Subversion repositories.


Essential Skills Required

• Excellent attention to detail and efficient working practices
• Familiarity with graphical software packages e.g. –Photoshop, Illustrator
• Knowledge of W3C WAI and UK DDA legislation
• Understanding of browsers and rendering issues / bugs with the standard browsers
• Understanding of developing HTML content for different platforms
• Understanding of SEO techniques within the website build.


Additional Skills

• Knowledge of server side technologies, it is expected that the role would develop to include server side programming responsibilities in one or more of these platforms PHP, ASP.Net and JSP.
• Expertise in one or more MVC framework e.g. Symfony, Zend, Rails or Django.
• Familiarity with one or more open source CMS system e.g. Drupal or Joomla
