Payroll and Purchase Ledger Clerk Needed

Exclusive to Hays Accountancy & Finance, this varied and interesting payroll job demands a strong up to date knowledge of payroll. This position will be working alongside the Company Accountant and cover all aspects of weekly and monthly payroll. It is a hands on and responsible job so would ideally suit someone who is experienced in working for a small to Medium sized business, where they were fully responsible for the whole payroll of the company but who has also worked in other areas of accounts.

This is a very lively and relaxed company which have sites across the UK and their Head Office in Leeds city centre. Modern, open plan offices means a very friendly and interactive working environment.

Job Duties include:

- Processing a weekly and monthly payroll for up 150 employees

- Inputting and processing all new starters and leavers including P45s

- Inputting and processing all timesheets and calculating hours

- SSP, SMP, SPP, NI and tax calculations

- Payment runs via BACS

- Payslip generation

- Payroll reconciliation

- Payroll journals

- All payroll related queries

- Payroll year end duties including P11Ds and P60s

- Dealing with employee payment issues

- Month end reporting on payroll

- HR and contract administration

- Purchase ledger

- Banking

- Reconciliations and other ad-hoc finance duties 

- Ad-hoc finance work including possible purchase ledger and reconciliation work

Skills required:


- Must have up to date payroll experience - ideally of both monthly and weekly

- Must have excellent working knowledge of all areas of payroll

- Must have experienced of other areas of accounts either in most recent position, or in a previous accounting/bookkeeping role

- Must be able to work in a small office environment

- Must have good IT skills - knowledge of Sage Payroll would be desirable but not essential

- Must be flexible and willing to assist with other non-payroll related duties
