Commodity Manager

Location: Yorkshire Drive
Salary: £35,000
Hours of work: Monday to Friday (35 hours) – Initial 12 month contract
Closing Date: 5th October 2009

Purpose of Role

As a leading organisation in a constantly changing industry our Procurement function faces challenges on a daily basis. This includes the development of short & long term saving initiates, undertaking reviews of our purchasing processes ensuring “best practice” and building sustainable relationships with internal stakeholders.

Our continued drive for cost and efficiency has led to YBS Seeking a Procurement professional to join our Team. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this new role will offer an exciting and unique opportunity to help YBS drive our procurement strategy to the next level.

Your duties will include assuming responsibility for a range of commodities and processes, where you will identify quick wins and long term savings objectives, you will liaise with Group Legal on contract drafting and the contract database, you will recommend improvements and agree implementation plans, but most importantly you will engage with key personnel across the Society and build and maintain collaborative relationships which will in turn deliver the cost & efficiencies required.

If you:
• Have a procurement qualification, ideally CIPS
• Have previous procurement experience, ideally in Marketing & Facilities
• Have proven track record of influencing key stakeholders and decision makers
• Have exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
• Have experience of drafting contracts and knowledge of common legal clauses
• Have a familiarity of category managements processes
• Have experience in Financial Services, desirable
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and procurement applications, ideally Oracle
• Are flexible to a 12 month contract but open to future permanent opportunities
